Thousand hours? Go get a job, pick up the additional hours, currency, and experience. Like most of us have done.

Maybe because there is much fewer job opportunities for the 250-1500hr crowd than in the past. Not to mention the total lack of consistent income. They don't let all the vets cash in their GI benefits at the local flight school anymore nor does anyone fly checks. Where did that $6/hr T34 go? Things are a lot different now.
