I'm hoping CVG is still junior in a few months when I'm ready to apply. Do you think DCA will affect CVG more than CLT in being junior?
Also wondering- If you are assigned a base and you actually like it and don't want to move to another base, what are the chances that the company can still make you move?
New guy here and haven't had a chance to live it yet, so PSA Help or some other more knowledgeable folks can correct me if I'm wrong....
You put in a standing bid for what you want as far as bases go (and seats). You can change your standing bid at anytime. Each month, folks bid for their lines and once you have enough seniority, then your standing bids will be honored. You might get moved from your #4 to your #3 or you might jump all the way up to your #1...it all depends on where your seniority falls out.
DCA is a pretty high cost of living area so it wouldn't surprise me if it became pretty junior for FOs. It is also a very commutable location with all the airports in the area giving commuters options. Depending on when you apply/get hired DCA hopefully will be somewhat established and it will be easier to answer that question.
Hopefully that made sense and is correct for the most part...bottom line, you aren't stuck and you get looked at each month as far as being able to move to your preferred location.
