Why would the number of guys refusing to flow grow? The people flowing now are at about the ~10 years seniority point and are still quite young in the grand scheme of this career. I don't think we're going to see anyone else at this point refuse the flow for any reason other than taking a job some place else.
People have certain QOL concerns. Some people don't want to go through the training event, for many reasons. Some people are near retirement. Some have health issues. Some are expecting babies or have a wedding scheduled, or a sick parent at home. Or a business on the side that being at the top as an FO at a regional is all they need.
Not everyone see the brass ring the same are very happy where they are.
If your an instructor, making over 100k in their late fifties... they are happy. Have a good house, paid off.. They don't want to start at the bottom of the barrel.. reserve... just to fly a different airliner?
