Im not sure if this is what you meant, but you only list for one flight. Then, when your at the airport, if you dont make it on that first flight, they "roll" you to the next flight. You dont independently list for 2 separate flights, unless for some reason you have multiple cities you can go through. So, under your scenario, if say you didnt take your 1st option because the flights were wide open, and for some reason your 2nd option has a 4 hour delay for maintenance (happened to me) then technically your not in compliance with the policy and will get a CNC (could not commute). I had this same issue. I missed my 1st flight by minutes because I got stuck in traffic and by 2nd option flight took a 4 hour delay causing me to miss my report time. So, you have to leave your self 2 options, but if you miss your report because you opted for the 2nd flight, it can get you in a bind.
