Fatigue calls definitely leave a lot to be desired, more so from a contractual standpoint than a safety standpoint. I won't go into details on a public forum, but I'll agree with you there. I will say though that I have never felt pressured to fly fatigued.
The type of response you receive when calling in sick or fatigued depends a lot on your personal attitude/demeanor when talking with scheduling or the Chief Pilot's office. Just something to think about
And for the record, I am certainly no company cheerleader. The schedules and QOL are unquestionably as bad as ever I've seen them here.
It is not untrue. Try calling in sick 4 times in 12 months, even with doctor's notes. Company policy is disciplinary at that point. Some crazy arbitrator ruled they can do it.
