Specifically in baring your soul to the forum world about this awful dilemma you have.
I'm writing this not because I'm offended or jealous in any way; I'm not. But rather that I'm hoping you won't become one of "those guys" who, out of a lack of perspective and not malice, forgets how good he has it and allows his musings like this to change into complaints.
We can all be very happy with the way things are going at this point in history, but please just don't be the WB Captain who brags about all the senior manning and soft time he gets or the guy who complains to his new-hire FO about how much the annual costs this year on his Baron.
Maybe, as a group, we need to embrace more of the traditional professional norms with regard to compensation. It's not considered acceptable in most other professions to discuss pay. Ironically, in this industry, we all know what the other people in the cockpit make.
Again, nothing personal. Good luck with your decision.
I appreciate the perspective. I did get the hint when BigFatDaddy made his remark. I'm afraid I simply don't share that perspective. I am not talking about pay nor would I talk about pay in the cockpit because it's not important to me nor have I ever taken Senior manning.
Movement that is faster than anticipated is good for everyone and this thread was primarily about that fact and trying to validate whether it was true or not. As a personal aside it means I might finally be able to bid captain with some seniority after more than 2 decades in the right seat. I find sharing that info exciting and hope others are excited as well. In fact, in the cockpit when I tell folks I'm planning on bidding up in the next round or two everyone universally offers congratulations. If someone or anyone for that matter takes that as braggadocio and inappropriate gloating over my personal situation . . . well I'm sorry about that.
If a junior pilot told me they were making Captain at 2 years because they got hired at the beginning of the recent push I'd be ecstatic for them.
At the end of the day this is an internet forum where people share opinions, information, advice and stories for one purpose and one purpose only . . . entertainment. I know, for sure, my particular brand of posting is disliked by many on this and other forums, but it is who I am.
Thanks for the thought though. I'm always keen to hear other opinions
