Reserve sucks at most all airlines. That is why we have people bidding CVGor DAY until they can hold a line in CLT. But, now we have DCA, which is very commutable for many people, and has a really short reserve time.
You can get 12 days off on reserve if you bid it right and get lucky in the blend.
Once you hold a line, sap to 65 and then pick up extra trips later. You get premium pay for anything that you pick up. So, you can still get 14 days a month off, get premium pay for a 4 day trip, and credit 85+ hours in a month.
