Those routes are also flown as turns with no layovers at times. My answer would be don't have any expectations of being able to layover there. By the time you finished 737 school the A321 might be flying it. Switch to the A321 and it might go to the 757 in high season and back to the 737 in low season.
Jumpseats to get back and forth should be available. Long really ugly ride on a 737. You can reserve the jumpseat in advance. Keep in mind the Delta commuter policy requires a backup flight two hours later then your primary flight.
