To some degree the guy placed getting his PIC time ahead of being in a safe environment. But he did survive those first few months, yea! But, did he deserve to be a Captain flying around or did he get there because they were desperate to have a pilot? Maybe he's a great guy and a great pilot? Who do you take?
Well I work at Skywest and I don't think our pilots or training programs are any better or worse than any other carrier. We're all flying the same equipment in the same weather to the same airports, and our safety record is no better or worse than other regionals. That said, I've never worked​ at another regional, but I don't know anyone here who thinks we're somehow better than any other carrier (except in obvious areas like pay, as compared to Mesa for example)...
