Default AV days and picking up another trip

I have a trip ending on Wed night. I start another 2 day trip on Thursday morning. It's 99% certainty that the trip ending on WED night is going to get in late enough to disrupt the minimum 12+45 requirement from release time to show. I currently have 12+35 scheduled. (The flight only needs to be 10 mins late to affect the next trip, and it'll be at least 30 mins - 1 hour late based on constant GDP's going into LAX).

So, when does scheduling figure out that i'm not legal for next trip? I do not think they will delay the start of a new trip until i'm legal. Therefore, when will they CNX my flying portion and put me on AV days? I know the contract states that they can assign me something on AV days, but it has to be done by 1500 the day before. It will be the evening of the day before, so they can't.

I don't think i fall under the rule where they have 2 hours to assign me another trip, since i won't have reported for the next day's trip; correct?

Lastly, I want to be able to pick up a trip over the AV days, and double dip. Is there any gotchas? Don't know if i should tell the scheduler that i'm illegal for next trip, upon landing. If there is another trip open, that I'm legal for, they shouldn't be able to assign it to me since it's after 1500.
