Nope. I just warrant the professionalism that YOU claim you possess when someone (or the company negotiators) smirks about the salary you claim you deserve.
We AREN'T "glorified button pushers" but the company negotiators thank you mightily for perpetuating that stereotype, especially when it comes time for openers next round of contract talks.
And I didn't "save" anything. I just ensured that a highly offensive piece of clothing wasn't going to be worn on my flight, and I expect most of the captains would have done the same. That's the only time in 2.5 years of wearing four stripes that I've even had to have that conversation. It is hardly a common occurrence.
