Definitely not too old! If you are looking to jump in head first, get current, get your CFI and find a flight school that will keep you busy. I know you are not necessarily looking at the airlines, but the majors have been hiring pilots in their mid-50s so don't let that deter you. You might consider going to the regionals for a while. You get jet time and it makes you competitive for jet corporate jobs. Keep your eye on the prize!
