I would also point out that when a pilot experiences a true life event the company often steps up and does waive the contract to assist a pilot who truly has a tragic situation.
I've benefited from that in the past. I've also used the contract to my advantage on occasion. Using a spill over trip to knock out a trip in the following month is a great example.
It's just a shame when setting up the training schedule, they didn't anticipate the M88 pilot shortage. With proper planning they could have been given an opportunity to bid for a schedule in Sept.
