Who said this? Pay protecting someone doesn't make them stay home and not work. It accounts and compensates for the screw job, but they can still WS trips for additional pay.

See your triple-pay anecdote as an example. I am assuming some of that pay would have come to you if you didn't fly at all and yet you didn't sit at home and not work...or do I have that wrong?

The only reason the company handled their error as they did was to save money on the backs of those who got screwed (and those who would have gotten GS to clean up the mess). Completely legal, and completely the wrong call if you actually care about the Delta "family".
