I agree with you except for the phrase "as distasteful as it may seem".
No such thing in my books, he's innocent until proven guilty. We only saw snippets of a video. ..but even if we saw more I'd still consider it to be irrelevant.
We fly airplanes for a living. Other people are judges for a living. I leave it to them and to the jury to decide if his actions were "distasteful" or not.
