Yes - Delta wants this fight. Reducing the number of potential OEMs would hurt all customers - including Delta. The Boeing/Airbus duopoly means higher prices for everyone in the long run. Having a healthy 3rd competitor means Boeing would need to innovate and compete to win more orders.

I agree that negotiations will begin. It ain't over. The tariff is WAAAAY overkill. Keep in mind that half the airplane is made in the US - Rockwell Collins makes the ProLine Fusion flight deck and P&W provides the engines. This is a ridiculous decision and I imagine the appeal will be vigorous. I can't help but wonder if this is also related to NAFTA negotiations...
