Yes, that is "tongue in cheek".
However, I'd like to add that Todd said 1200 new hires in 2018 months ago, and the company has been saying time and again they were hunting for used aircraft. Your analysis was correct, but nothing new. MoP has been beating the drum of expected purchases and increased hiring once the 747 closing and the IAH 787 silliness settled down.

No management team can predict when the economy or their industry is going to suffer a down turn. Boom and bust cycles are a part of life probably going as far back as the nomadic days of humanity when food was plentiful one year and scarce the next. I think hiring until you don't is better than losing market share, although I do realize some folks may not fully appreciated this and end up buying that captain house a year or two too early.
