True, but in the next 10 years there will be about 2000 retirements at Southwest and about 6000 retirements at United. That's 1/4 of the pilots at Southwest vs 1/2 of the pilots at United. That's a significant difference in seniority and corresponding compensation. Add to that the value of time for growing your retirement; at 7% interest, it doubles every 10 years.
