Sorry for the rant, just wanted to offer a bit of different perspective to consider when talking about how difficult or similar you might view the CPP to an off the street hires view of the process of getting on at United.
As said beforehand, CPP folks get interviewed months (in reality years) beforehand and have their performance records for their partner carrier scrutinized both before and after (late check ins, # of days ever they called in sick etc.)
The point is they jump through their own hoops to get to class. If you’re so worried about their process, go join one of them. Realistically each OTS applicant knows what pathways are available to get hired on a company at any given time. If you chose not to join one of those preferential pathways then you shouldn’t worry about those processes.
