I agree that switching to green needles without announcing it is pretty tame, overall. But I come from a background where both pilots were strongly encourage to mirror one another. That way there was no question as to why something “strange” was showing up for one person and not the other.

But when it comes to moving things such as cowl switches (also pretty tame), to bleeds xfer, etc. I always try to announce what I am doing. Keeps CAs less skittish. And if you fly with someone who is moving things like cowls and BtG without announcing it, what will his next hand movement to the upper console be doing?

About the only thing I move without announcing it is the temps on the packs. But that’s just me.

Pilot flying should cover that in the brief. If my FO doesn't I ask them what they want to do. I don't care what method is used just let the other person know what you're planning.
