Wow, I can’t imagine caring whether someone announces that they’re going to green needles or turning the cowls on. Maybe it’s because I’m on the 200 where everyone mostly knows what thy’re doing.
I'm assuming it's because if someone was going to nav to nav transfer and someone switched to green without announcing it and the pilot flying was waiting for it to capture it could blow through the localizer course because both have to be in white needles with the blue preview.
