Depends on the state and of course the judge.
some places the rough # for ALimony is 1/3 of the difference in gross for 1/3 the length of the marriage.
For example, if you make (gross) 21K per month and she does not work, then you would pay her 7K per month.
Some states limit the amount.
Keep in mind she will pay taxes on alimony and it is deductible for you.
Some states pay alimony for life after so many years(e.g. 20+) of marriage, but others limit it until "rehabilitation" (she is back in the job market.) Also depends on her education, job skills, ability to earn.
I heard a rumor that you are exempt from paying alimony if you are on medical disability, not sure if that is true.
Don't fight over the small stuff. Your health and well being are worth more than any $$$.
No matter how it ends, you will both feel like you got screwed.
Only the lawyers will feel good.
See if she is willing to do mediation or a collaborative divorce.
Conduct yourself in a professional manner when dealing with her. An accusation of domestic violence is a possible career killer
Good luck and remember there is life after divorce.
