There are plenty of airlines that would be commutable out of PVD.

Piedmont in PHL
PSA in DCA or CLT
Envoy in LGA
Endeavor in LGA/JFK or ATL

Nothing against Republic but I just don’t see the draw unless you’re absolutely sold on flying the 175.
