There is oil shale in N. America. To use it, however, we need to develp a hunge source of alternative energy. And, if we do that, we don't need the oil shale.

Why?

To turn the oil shale just in Canada into oil, we would have to burn ALL the available natural gas in ALL of N. America. Currently, that is the fuel they use to process the shale.

Globally, we are already short of natural gas, and we can't afford to waste it all on oil shale-that is why an alternative energy source is needed.

Renewable is the ONLY way to go for long term prospects for our survival. Sooner or later, we'll HAVE to use renewables, and the sooner we do, the less pain we'll suffer.
