Hypothetically, I'm a MIA CRJ FO. I just flew my 1000th hour of qualifying time to upgrade, but I don't want to upgrade just yet. But if I do HAVE to upgrade, my preference is to stay in my comfort zone of MIA CRJ.

The initial bid starts at the top and works through all the FOs who WANT to upgrade. They get to the bottom and still have 50 more seats to fill, half LGA EMJ and half ORD EMJ. So now they count from the bottom of the 50 qualified FOs. I am 45 from the bottom, 5 from the top, so I now HAVE to upgrade. But there are only EMJs left, which was not on my displacement. Since not very many FOs WANTED the treasured MIA CRJ, they made it way down the seniority list on the FIRST bid, much lower than my number before they ran out.

So my question is this: Does the person with less seniority get my seat because they run the "I want to" before the "only if I have to" displacement?
