No one is saying anything about accepting everyone without question. I'd assume there would be some sort of probationary period that would assist in weeding those folks out. No pilot group, not even the mighty UAL group, is immune from those individuals who need an escort to the door

At the end of the day, when you subcontract your flying, the folks who the bean counters contract to fly your passengers do represent your operation. Grammy and PeePaw flying from Lake Charles to Amarillo won't have one single mainline United crew take care of them. So, whether these crews "belong" or not is irrelevant, they're still the face of your operation.
Yes, as long as it says United on the side of the plane you’re right. Passengers don’t know the difference. I don’t see how that translates into you’re automatically hired at Mainline. Bad apples slip through the cracks everywhere. Does that mean we just stop interviewing? There has to be checks and balances along the way. Asking express pilots to interview isn’t a overwhelming barrier that can’t be overcome. It’s a completely different company.
