Let's just say there isn't a policy. I was in a similar position you were in and had absolutely no issues. I was still on probation and in training and the guy in training asked me how long off I wanted. I answered and it was granted.
My suggestion is to email the question to recruiters. Get an answer from them. Take it with a gain of salt but at least it shows you made them aware of your situation and you were trying to be proactive about it.
Unfortunately my guess is you would likely face a situation similar to the first guy that responded.
