Seriously though, if you are looking for a more urban environment with public transit, culture, and a drive to work then the southwest corner of Connecticut is also a possibility. For better or for worse the variability in "culture" from NJ to NY to CT is significant. Stereotypes are terrible things I agree, but sometimes they can help so think Bruce Springsteen versus Woody Allen versus Martha Stewart and you'll have a hint of what I'm talking about. As an example there is New Canaan Ct, a community where everything is in walking distance and which is right out of a Dr. Seuss story book with Elm St, a train that has express service to Manhattan, celebrities like Harry Connick Jr. and the founder of Jet Blue, and a vibrant restaurant scene that has some of the top names in the epicurean world rubbing elbows with the locals.
Best of luck with the search, and add my name to the list of people you can PM if you'd like more detailed info about Fairfield County.
Awesome points thanks! We have about a year to solve this "problem". really appreciate the help
