They are, but not as much as you would think. EVA's pay is much higher, considering the cost of living is much cheaper compared to HK and UAE. The pay is high in Mainland China, where a captain makes about 20-30K. But even that compared to mainline FO is not that high!
They make you work for every penny they pay you!
