I would check the contract wording on what you need to do for the company too. The contract is specific in it's wording that you are to be phone available during those scheduled training days ONLY if they notified you at the time of the cancellation that you need to be phone available. If they forgot to mention it, you're off the hook. Unfortunately for me, they didn't forget to mention it so I was phone available for my two cancelled days of training from 10am to 2pm. At first I thought it was a pretty sweet deal being a commuter. I could stay home.....wrong. "Phone available" is defined as being able to report for duty within 2.5 hours after being notified of a trip. It sure would be nice if our next contract puts some sort of wording about long-call availability or something.
