This came about more than 5 years ago so whoever is telling this story is telling an Urban Myth.
GO LOOK AT 10.70.1 - This whole thread is based on a story that is either old or false, and Cadet provided the info at the top of pg 2!

The current jumpseat boarding card has the jumpseater's PILOT SENIORITY NUMBER (not company seniority) printed in large, captain friendly, numbers on it.
Lower number wins. (Subject to CA's final discretion, of course.)
