1. Own-metal pilots (recognise them by their SA0X non-rev listing)
2. United and United Express pilots by check-in time at gate
3. Other off-line pilots by check-in time at gate

That's a cheap shot. The Captain went out of his way trying to find guidance in the UPA or FOM. But as we all know; the search engine completely sucks in the IPAD. He defaulted to the COMPANY seniority because it was pushback time. He did not revert to eenie, meenie, miney, moe, he did his best to find the correct answer. You act as if YOU KNOW the answer - good for you; show me. Cut and paste it in your reply. I may be faced with this situation in the future and I want to make sure the correct decision is made.

The one time I had a problem. RNO-SFO on the Shuttle. Nice new hire guy came aboard shortly after we blocked in, and did the usual polite, "Hi., please, I'm going to work," thing. 5 minutes before we push, a famous UAL scab walks on the plane and doesn't say hi, or introduce himself, he just says, "Get out of my jumpseat." I notice that he doesn't have an ALPA pin on, not to mention he was rude in the extreme.

Guys, do not ask the captain to settle your disagreements or to become an FOM lawyer 20 minutes prior to pushback. His opinion only decides who rides that day and not what is correct. You both have brains and access to books and email and jumpseat committees and you can figure out who should ride between yourselves.
To me it's obviously pilot seniority and not company seniority. Rampers can't jumpseat. The scheming prick who thought to use his company seniorty deserves humiliation. I'd ask the captian for a quick thought and if he didn't have the brain reserves at the moment to yield an instant answer colored with ridicule for the scheming prick I'd just bow out and let the prick ride. And then I'd play dumb myself and go looking for the "correct" answer, and I'd drop the prick's name at every opportunity while forgetting the captain's as often as possible. As pilots, you all know we don't have time for childish crap like this. The captain had the situation dropped in his lap. Dummy, yes. But that scheming prick deserves 10 times the **** and rotten vegetables.

Cadet answered the question pgs ago. I'd post a picture of it, but the page says "SENSITIVE SECURITY INFORMATION".
THE JS CARD SHOWS UAL PILOT SENIORITY NUMBER NOT D.O.H!!!!
This came about more than 5 years ago so whoever is telling this story is telling an Urban Myth.
GO LOOK AT 10.70.1 - This whole thread is based on a story that is either old or false, and Cadet provided the info at the top of pg 2!

One more time....
The current jumpseat boarding card has the jumpseater's PILOT SENIORITY NUMBER (not company seniority) printed in large, captain friendly, numbers on it.
Lower number wins. (Subject to CA's final discretion, of course.)
References:
FOM 10.60.1 Jumpseat Priority Table: "Pilots are boarded in seniority order."
FOM 10.70.1 Sample "Flight Deck Authorization Form" that shows format of card, including location and size of seniority number
