Me and 6 others in a class of ~20 were assigned the CRJ200. The others are all SAAB.
We're all very grateful to be here. Such diversity in backgrounds. I just came back from a study group and all 7 of us showed up to participate. It's really refreshing to work with such a great group of fellas who are very non-competitive and all want to see each other succeed. We struggled through a NAV1/NAV2/3585 exemption handout tonight and I was amazed at how patient everyone was with each other. That kind of patience is in all of the instructors too. We were stuck, so one guy called one of the instructors at 9pm and he told us how glad he was that we called. Wow.
The other thing that is really freaking me out is how many dudes I used to fly with @ Mankato, MN are already here. It's like I'm back in school or something...total flashbacks, but very cool.
I honestly don't know if my wife and I will go through the trouble of getting her up here on T-day. For one thing, we as a class would have to vote on it...and our check out day (for the Oct 22nd class) is Nov. 25. I foresee us sitting back at home for 1-2 weeks waiting for our SIM assignments to come up...and another 1-3 weeks after that before IOE. The CRJ200 sim is here, but they told us it won't be configured until mid-November. Which means we'll probably have to do SIM in Montreal or Denver. I'm not sure which is which...some guys tell me one or the other.
Truth is.....there is so much training going on in HQ right now, EDIT you'll find it difficult finding someone who is unwilling to help you out. /EDIT You couldn't pick a better time to come to Mesaba.
