20 years ago, UAL would have been my dream job. Now I’m late to the game (42) and would like to know where the fastest path to being a captain in Denver would be. People say UA has more retirements, but if they aren’t going to help me get into and upgrade in DEN, I’m not sure that does me any good.
SWA guys hired 10 years ago are getting to be Captains now, not that if you are hired you'll be a Captain there in 10 years. A friend of mine hired 8 years ago at SWA is now going to take 4-6 more years to make Captain because of the AT merger. Its going to be a LOT longer since AT had a lot of young pilots and you are going to be junior to them forever. At one point, we had CAL pilots with 6 years on the property holding Captain in Denver on the 737. So its a moving target.
