Now let’s say that 10 people bid the MD-11 captain position. And let’s say that they are Senior to the 10 most junior MD-11 captains on the current list. They would be awarded MD-11 captain and the 10 junior folks on the list would go somewhere else. Hence the term bump and flush....

Wrong! You need to read the recent email communication from ALPA and maybe watch the youtube video on this section that was produced.
The only way the 10 people who bid MD-11 Captain will be awarded the seat in your scenario is if 10 MD-11 Captains bid off to a different seat creating the 10 open slots. If no Captains bid off no pilots will be awarded the position.
