Default Min day protection trip drops

Does anyone know if there is any restriction on dropping carryover trips to solve a min day protection scenario? I have 4 days of carryover coming into April.

I'm wondering about the computer or human planner logic folks have experienced specifically relating to longer international carryover trips.
For example:
An April line with two 10 day trips of almost equal pay. Neither trip is in actual conflict with my carry-in trip. It's just a min days off situation. The first falls completely in the month. The second carryover trip starts 3-days prior to the end of the month and goes 7 days into the May.

One of them has to go if min days off are protected. Drop the shorter? Least paying? Removing the carryover trip will solve the problem but I'm wondering if doing that is unusual. I realize preferences can be entered but it's ultimately up to the planners. I'll email them Monday, but just wondering if anyone has some insight from personal experience.
