I know most people hate the whole "I had to walk uphill both way's in the snow to school" stories. But allow me to tell mine
When my first airline went out of business I was out of airline flying for 2 years. Every regional at the time was using a "pay to play" model.
Pilots had to pay $10,000 for a "training" contract in order to get hired.
This was not an option for me. I went back to charter/flight instructing and finally got hired at XJ.
It is all about perspective.
This is certainly a good time to get hired.
