- 1.95% is too much. ALPA is not immune to the tendency of large organizations with an income stream to become bloated and waste money. Problem is, that's my money they are wasting. If ALPA had a surplus before the last round of contracts, they're surely running even more of a surplus now with the new pay rates and profit sharing programs... that is unless they are wasting more of my money.

- The "gift horse" that you refer to might be more accurately called "paid representation" - a gift is something given for free, and we know that ain't ALPA. That paid representation at DALPA tried their best to shove a crappy TA down our throats before membership had to take action and correct the ship. Those guys were being advised by ALPA lawyers and financial experts BTW - paid for by my dues $. So forgive me for disagreeing with your "gift horse" analogy. Phuz mentioned he's been a dues paying member for 10 years prior at a regional. I'd say he paid his dues for said "gift horse" applenty.

There's a problem when a large organization tries to suppress dissent. So maybe you and the other snarky posters should back up a few paces and try to consider what Phuz is saying.

I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see an airline pilot think for himself. Great post!
