Additionally, almost every reserve line has either two 3-day blocks off or one 4-day block. If the grid is green this becomes even more flexible, but that is hit or miss.
RLDs are not "paid time off," they adjust your schedule to ensure that you have a 4-day block of days off the. Mark them as RLD and your 24-hr per diem stops. They have zero benefit to the pilot and the later in the month they occur the better it is for you.
Keep in mind that the result of bidding a base change to be applicable takes a couple of months. So, changing your bid to a new base upon completion of sims would give you about two months with 11 days off each to find new lodging and get moved.
