I'm only basing my opinion on their experience and what my check airman told me during my IOE. Also remember that many guys have sub 300 hours TT, so reviewing before IOE certainly couldn't hurt.
All that aside, we all know that reading the POM and chair flying is very different from being in the real airplane or even the sim. It would be nice if we could be scheduled so as to avoid being "out of the saddle" for so long.
