Tremendous people were turned down on a whim. Hope when your day comes it works out for you, but some of the best people and aviators I've met were turned down; people who to this day put 100% into everything and work constantly to make this place better for their fellow pilots. Many who gave up any semblance of quality of life for years, took pay cuts in the shorts while building families.
