I'm calling you out on this my friend. You are gainfully employed in your chosen field, in a job market that is at its best in 30 years.
That said, you must understand the airline industry is brutally competitive with massive fixed asset costs and risks reaching an absolute commodity status.
Your Customer Interactions, data collection, and arrival performance separate Delta (-thats how the customer sees us) from Spirit and Southwest et al. The vast majority of the traveling public travel less than once a year and are absolutely price sensitive. Our hold on the 15% odd of premium pax is what pays the bills and keeps us in shinny well maintained jets and salary paid on time.
A part of of our job is accepting the responsibility we have to the Brand; that's our economic reality. I for one- and just about everyone I know & fly with understands that. Its also what you'll likely be asked to demonstrate in an interview -for any carrier...
