Congratulations to the ALPA Organizing Committee for running a generally good campaign.

So, looking to the future, how do we get those 900-ish folks to concentrate their efforts to make the SkyWest that we have TODAY, better tomorrow?

Or do we just go to organizing effort number 4 ? I can't imagine ALPA giving up over the long haul. There's just too much money in dues to be overlooked.

1999 - ALPA failed, but very close
2003?- UPA, failed
2007 - ALPA, failed
2011 - ????

Personally, I've said it several times, I think our best chance is an in house union, like Southwest, et al. It's not all about how much dues money we can generate (a common explanation to why it "won't work").

ALPA is not selling, period. And they spent MILLIONS trying. I can't wait to see the official ALPA press release. Wonder who they'll blame for the failure... surely not themselves.

I know it smarts now for those 904, but honestly, we all had a good expectation of what the odds were. I guessed 40% for / 60% against, up to 50% plus one if it won. I only started guessing that I overestimated in the past week when it seemed that the NO voters actually started to talk in the breakroom.

Time to move on mates, and I'm glad this is behind us. I hope the ALPA supporters can say the same.... someday.

The company has issues to fix, and SAPA has internal issues to fix. To do that requires unity, not apathy. I suspect, however, we'll get the latter. I'll be truly impressed if we eventually get the former.
So does this mean Koolaidman will get the raise SAPA promised him if you all voted down alpa? I hope so, or like he said he will be very, very, very dissapointed....
