We were completely paperless at my last job. It was nice to have everything at the start of the day instead of piecemeal. You could spot problems with planning etc. well in advance and make time on turns if need be by already having parts of the FMS preprogrammed and fueling decisions made before you landed. Even the release was electronic.

As for the APU...do it when feasible. There’s a balance between customer service and a lean operation. LAS or DFW in the summertime would tilt towards crew and customer safety and comfort.

It’s not worth getting worked up over. Eventually someone in a cubicle will realize that no amount of auditing will convince airports to get their ac units up to snuff on leased gates, and that no amount of pressure/reports on crews will result in pilots and FA’s sitting patiently in 85+ degree cabins to save the company an extra dime that they won’t share with employees.

Do the right thing by each other and the customer, and when possible do the right thing for efficiency. Sometimes those two overlap, and sometimes they don’t.
