But don't get me wrong. Delta should be taking care of a hotel for training, and I hope that gets changed. I don't want to give the impression that I'm saying "it's okay because it's worse elsewhere." This just doesn't fit with the rest of the classy setup here.
Likewise, I hope that the other legacies don't leave their new hires out in the cold again as their contracts come up for negotiation in the coming years. However, I'm sure that $1/hr more for 12-year 777 or 747 captains would be enough of a carrot for them to trade the $20/hr or so raise that their new pilots deserve. Remember that, year two and three guys, when you're called on to vote, and think about more than the short term personal gain when you ponder how the quality of the people you can attract will make your life easier if they earn an appropriate wage. All of these carriers are earning enough to return pay to where it belongs for all of their pilots.
