They’re not choosing not to upgrade. They’re choosing not to take the earliest upgrade. Even with the changes in the new CBA our reserve system is medieval compared with our peers in the industry. I don’t find it surprising that pilots would wait until they are sure they could hold a line before changing seats.
Also, they may be choosing not to commute -- even worse, commute to reserve -- which I can understand
completely.
