I dont think a merger at this level of Air Carriers of this magnitude has ever taken place..... uncharted ground I say.......

The closest thing scale wise would be when American gobbled up TWA.... and that turned out pretty nasty. the economics are not the same but geez... could you imagine merging those HUGE .... senority lists. I suspect all types of fences and such would have to be put in place for several years to protect the rights of each pilot group... but who knows.
