I get what you're saying. However, most of these airlines use their 737's for other than mainland to Hawaii in the winter (Aloha had no choice with the a/c they had at the time.)... That Alaskan 737 also goes up and down the West Coast and makes its way East all week long. A little lost revenue for a turn to Hawaii mid pairing won't hurt them as bad.
We specifically do nothing but 4-6hr flights with these planes... With todays technology and data I would be shocked and disappointed if our management didn't research this.
We fuel our NEO's to maybe half full +/- for those flights.
