I did the UAL status match this summer. You need 6250 miles or 8 flights
on United or Ted in 90 days. You can claim your US Air flights for miles on UAL, but it doens't count toward the UAL elite status. And they do mean 90 days, not 3 months.
And they'll only ever do it once. So you might want to plan when you're going to be able to fly on United enough to preserve the match...
I lost mine by 1.5 segments, because I thought they were counting US Air segments. My US Air segments were showing up in my UAL miles, but they don't count.
On the brighter side, when I book Delta on Tripmanager, it always shows 'requested class of service not available' on mainline Delta. If you press on, you get the ticket at the price it quotes, but when you select your seat, it's in First Class.
