Hey Mike,
I used to be on active duty stationed at Schofield Barracks inHawaii. I worked on my privtae pilots lisence at Eveland Aero in Honolulu. It was awesome. I left active duty in 1999.
I am currently in the Army Guard deployed at the moment, but when I get home I plan to go to a pt 141 school to work on my multi engine. Ther is a good school here in Atlanta called Aviation ATlanta. They have a good reputation. There is another 141 school her ecalled Falcon Aviation. Its run by a Regonal Airline Captain and it could be good for networking opportunities.
I agree you dont have to go to an expensive school like Flight Safety or DCA. Its not neccessary. Heck, join a military flying club. Most of them are pt 141 and they have very decent prices
